VQ-PG silicone-hydrolyzed wheat protein is produced by reacting hydrolyzed plant protein with 3-epoxypropyltrimethyldihydroxy silane. VQ-PG combines the affinity of hydrolyzed plant protein (peptides) for hair and skin, along with their adsorption, moisturizing, and conditioning properties, with the gloss-enhancing and superior film-forming capabilities of silicone compounds. It readily forms a flexible, smooth protein film that coats the hair shaft, reducing split ends and improving hair appearance and combability. It is particularly effective in repairing damage to damaged hair and providing thermal protection. It effectively replenishes the loss of hair proteins and lipids, repairs damaged hair, and significantly enhances the moisturizing and conditioning performance of rinse-off products due to its stable water solubility.
"Hydrolyzed" means: hydrolysed or a hydrolysate (product of the separation of a chemical compound by reaction with water, often by means of enzymes).
"Vegetable" means: of plant origin.
"Protein" refers to proteins, mostly of plant origin. Proteins are biological macromolecules which are made from amino acids.
"PG" refers to propylene glycol (1,2-propylene glycol, propane-1,2-diol) as alcoholic component of this ingredient.
"Propyl" mostly refers to propanol (1-propanol or n-propanol) as alcoholic component or generally a saturated hydrocarbon chain with 3 carbon atoms. "Silanetriol" refers to a trihydroxysilyl grouping. Silanes are the silicone analogues of carbon compounds (alkanes).
